Bible Study Verse Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. (ESV)
Thoughts I forgot my waders. Actually, I wasn't that upset, because it was midsummer, warm, and I could wet wade. This was my decision during a recent camping/fishing trip with my son.
One problem: the river we were fishing was a bottom discharge tailrace, and the water temperature was COLD. As I stepped into the water, a nearby angler muttered, "You're brave." I laughed, figuring he was just soft.
Twenty minutes later, my feet numb and my legs turning from red to purple, I gave up; walked carefully to the bank, hiked quickly to my car, and regretted my efforts every step of the way. (Matt F)
Action Point Sometimes we enter the battles in our faith unequipped for what we might face. Pride, stubbornness, or just carelessness lead us into situations without the armor of God. We are never so vulnerable.
It's not enough to read about the armor of God. We must put it on.
Sportsmen's Tip of the Day Many tailrace rivers, especially those with bottom discharges, yield coldwater species like trout during even hot summer months. Find a tailrace, and you're likely to find good fishing. But don't forget your waders!
